Spam filter upgrade coming April 7, 2022

On Thursday, April 7, 2022, Alliance is upgrading to new spam filtering software. This upgrade impacts those who use an @alliancecom.net email address.

The software change won’t disrupt email delivery, and the Alliance Webmail program isn’t changing.

You’ll have access to both spam filtering programs through the end of May. The links to the filters will be noted as “new” and “old” in the same location where you find the current filter link.

Your spam filter settings, along with the Friends (whitelist) and Enemies (blacklist), will carry over to the new software. During the first few weeks after the switch, we encourage you to review your filtering results.

Enhanced Security

The new software has some additional security features to protect you from malicious activity. The software will scan external links and attachments to test them for harmful code and activity, which helps capture brand new threats. The software also will give you the option to enable two-factor authentication for added security.

30-Day Archive for All Messages

With the new software, all email messages, including those that were deleted and quarantined, will be accessible for 30 days. This feature is beneficial if you accidentally delete or misplace messages and need to recover them. (Think of it as a back up to your email program.)

Even though the Alliance Webmail program won’t be impacted by the software change, the spam quarantine will look different. Please see the user guide for details on using the spam quarantine and adjusting settings, if needed.
