Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Alliance Communications Cooperative, a fiscally strong, member-owned broadband provider serving communities across South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa, is seeking a forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This opening comes as the result of the planned retirement of our long-tenured financial leader.
Alliance delivers over 15,000 connections through a 100% fiber network, providing rural communities with world-class connectivity. The CFO will guide the financial strategy that fuels this mission and support the continued growth of one of the region’s most respected telecommunications cooperatives.
The CFO is a key member of Alliance’s executive leadership team, responsible for shaping long-term financial strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing all accounting and financial operations. This role demands a highly strategic leader who can operate confidently in a dynamic telecommunications and cooperative environment. Telecom experience is preferred but not required for candidates with exceptional financial and operational leadership skills.
What You’ll Do
- Lead strategic financial planning and capital investment decisions
- Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, FCC, USAC, IRS, and multi-state cooperative regulations
- Support grant funding applications and broadband expansion initiatives
- Mentor and develop the finance team
- Partner with the CEO and Board on financial direction and performance
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance required; MBA preferred
- CPA/CMA strongly preferred
- 5–10+ years of financial leadership (telecom experience a plus, not required)
- Strong strategic mindset with hands-on execution abilities
- Experience with capital planning, regulatory reporting, and financial modelling

Advanced Services Technician
Department: Network Operations
Reports To: Chief Operations Officer
Objective
Deliver and support advanced broadband and telecommunications solutions for business and residential customers. Coordinate cross-departmental efforts to implement, maintain, and optimize network technologies, customer devices, and vendor systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain customer and core network devices (Business WiFi, PBX, VoIP, ONTs, routers, set-top boxes, streaming systems, etc.)
- Repair and support network equipment and software across customer and central office environments
- Support advanced services including video, IOT, WiFi, network monitoring and streaming devices
- Educate customers and internal staff on hardware/software platforms and promote optimal use
- Assist in new product and service development—contributing technical insight, pricing strategy, inventory planning, and implementation
- Communicate and coordinate with vendors and suppliers on existing and new services and support features for all current and potential services offered to customers
- Interdepartmental collaboration to ensure software/hardware interoperability and improve cross-network efficiency
- Manage inventory and product tracking using current and future systems
- Provide face-to-face, phone or chat-based customer support and onsite sales assistance when needed
- Conduct training sessions for team members and customers
- Attend safety, educational and operational training both internal and external when needed.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of IP networking and telephony
- Familiarity with IOT devices and consumer electronics
- Competence in back-office systems, computers and user interfaces (Microsoft, iOS, Android, IPTV and Elation platforms)
- Ethical conduct and commitment to confidentiality
- Highly organized with strong time management skills
- Attention to detail and pride in accuracy and self-management.
- Effective communicator with cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Able to sit, stand, walk and lift up to 40 pounds including but not limited to the transporting office materials and equipment. (reasonable accommodations can be made for people with disabilities)
- Valid driver’s license and clear driving record
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and coordinate and collaborate with direct team and other departments
- Able to pass background, drug or other qualification or competency tests at hiring and during employment.
Additional Info
- Work Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; Some Overtime is anticipated, includes on-call rotation
- Travel: Limited, for training and local service needs. Customer needs may require travel
- Education/Experience: HS diploma + tech degree or 4+ years relevant experience
- Environment: Office and field-based; requires physical agility for equipment installation
