Email Safety: What You Need to Know

At Alliance Communications, your security is a top priority. We want to share some important tips and “must-knows” to help protect you from email fraud and phishing scams.

What Alliance Will Never Ask You For

Alliance Communications will never request the following information via email:

  • Your email username or password

  • Banking or payment information

  • Address verification

If you receive an email claiming to be from us that asks for any of this information, it’s a scam.

How to Spot a Scam

  • Hover over the sender’s email address to see where the message is actually coming from. If it looks suspicious or you’re unsure, contact us before clicking anything.

  • Avoid clicking on unexpected links or sharing personal information. When in doubt, contact the sender directly using a verified phone number.

  • Watch for spelling and grammar mistakes; these are common signs of phishing emails.

  • Be cautious about where you share your email address.

  • Never reply to spam messages.

  • Look for red flags like urgent demands, threats, unexpected attachments, or anything that just feels “off.”

Email Safety Best Practices

  • Use strong, unique passwords and change them regularly. A passphrase that’s easy for you to remember but hard to guess works best.

  • Enable two-factor authentication whenever possible for added protection.

  • Keep your devices and software up to date.

  • Use trusted antivirus software and make sure it stays current.
