Alliance Communications is asking Luverne residents one simple question: Do you want lightning-fast fiber internet in your hometown?
The regional internet provider is considering expanding its state-of-the-art fiber-optic network into Luverne’s city limits. Fiber provides the best experience for working from home, watching TV over the internet, gaming, and operating a business.
Before moving forward, Alliance is gauging community interest. If 65 percent of an area expresses interest, fiber planning may begin.
“Fiber internet is the gold standard for speed, reliability, and performance,” said Ross Petrick, general manager/CEO at Alliance Communications. “We already serve many rural Rock County residents, and we’d love to bring that same world-class service into Luverne. But first, we need to know if the community is ready to say yes.”
Why Alliance Fiber?
- Symmetrical speeds: upload just as fast as you download—perfect for streaming, working from home, and gaming.
- Truly unlimited internet: no data caps, no overage fees, and no slowdowns.
- Local support: 24/7 help from Alliance employees who live and work nearby.
- Weatherproof reliability: a 100% underground fiber network, protected from storms, trees, and interference.
- Dedicated connection: unlike other technologies, your speeds won’t dip during peak usage.
Alliance has been providing communications services to the region for decades, with a focus on reliable technology and local customer care.
How to Show Interest
Residents can visit alliancecom.net/luvernefiber, scan the QR code on community mailers, or call (605) 582-6311 to say “Yes, I want fiber.” Residents are also encouraged to spread the word—when 65 percent of an area shows interest, Alliance may begin fiber planning.
If Alliance receives enough interest this winter, network construction would start in 2027. Demand for fiber-optic cabling is high due to the rapid growth of AI data centers, which is why the project won’t occur in 2026.
“Bringing fiber to Luverne would future-proof the community’s internet needs for decades to come,” Petrick said. “It’s about keeping Luverne connected, competitive, and prepared for the future.”
