New Spam Filter Tutorial - Policies Tab
Quarantine Tab | Settings Tab | Status Tab | Email Digest
The policies tab offers the user the ability to manage the whitelist and blacklist, also known as the Friends and Enemies lists. In addition, the policies tab allows the user to control how the quarantine identifies and reacts to potential spam emails.
- Under the Filter by Sender section, you will find two windows labeled Friends and Enemies. These windows are functionally equivelant to the whitelist and blacklist. To manually add a user to either list, simply type their name in the text box and click the green button. To remove a name from a list, select the name in the list and click the red button.

- As you can see, the Alliance spam filter categorizes spam into three sections: Red Zone email, which is probably dangerous and/or criminal email; Yellow Zone email, which is email that could potentially be harmful and/or criminal; Green Zone email, which is nuisance email such as advertisements, newsletters, etc.
Customers are allowed to make changes to the policies in these zones, but it is recommended that you do not change the Red Zone or Yellow Zone email policies, as this can result in potentially harmful email making its way to your inbox.

- As mentioned before, the Green Zone relates to emails that are typically considered to be nuisance messages. If you decide to change the policy settings in the Green Zone, you will run the risk of seeing more junk mail in your inbox. If you have a legitimate message that is being caught by the Green Zone policy, it is recommended that you add the sender to the Friends list rather than editing the policy settings.
