Seniors awarded $1,000 Alliance scholarships

Alliance Communications recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to 10 graduating seniors. High school seniors who live in a household served by Alliance Communications were eligible to apply. Applicants were judged on leadership in school, civic and other extracurricular activities, academic achievement, character, and the motivation to serve and succeed.

Construction of Alliance Communications’ fiber-optic network in rural Rock County began in April and is expected to take six months, depending on weather conditions. Crews will begin in the Jasper and Beaver Creek areas and will expand to the rest of the county throughout 2016. The total project will cover 555 miles.

Following network construction, rural Rock County residents will have access to cutting-edge technology that isn’t even available in some of America’s largest cities.

Jay Rozeboom Complex receives Keep the Change grant

The West Lyon School District received a $2,500 Keep the Change grant to help make improvements to the Jay Rozeboom Complex. The total project, which is estimated to cost $495,000, will include new stadium seating, concrete, a press box and a building for concessions, restrooms and storage.
